Overview
Latitude Geographics Group Ltd., in conjunction with business partner Refractions Research Inc., offers dynamic 3D viewer functionality in the ArcIMS environment. We were the first company to bring 3D functionality to virtually any ArcIMS site, and the product/service remains a striking, inexpensive effective way to visualize layers, markup, and text over a 3D model. Users can easily rotate the 3D scene, zoom in and out, and change the viewing angle.
We do not intend for this product to compete with the rich functionality offered by Google Earth or ESRI’s ArcGIS Explorer. Rather, the simple, lightweight Geocortex 3D Perspective Map viewer fills a market need for 3D rendering because it requires no software installation or plug-in*.
* Users also have the option of downloading and installing the third-party Cosmo VRML plug-in, which allows more advanced interaction (e.g. fly-through) with a dynamic 3D model.
